2015 rMBP OSX 10.11.1 attempting to be have shared folders accessed to by Windows 10 custom build PC. Suddenly I can no longer access my Mac from my PC on my network. The Mac can access the shared folders and drives on my PC and my server (server has both AFP and SMB enabled) In system preferences sharing File Sharing Options.
Click the Sharing tab and use the options here to share a folder and configure its permissions. Access a Shared Folder from Windows. Visit the Network pane in Windows Explorer or File Explorer to view other computers sharing files with you. You’ll see properly configured Mac and Linux computers appear in this list along with nearby Windows PCs.
Both SMB and AFP are enabled but the section below when you select which user accounts to enable under Windows File Sharing it's all grey and not allowing me to select anything. I have no firewalls enabled anywhere and my VPN isnt active.
I haven't modified any settings. Windows prompts for a login to access the Mac but no combination of user info allows it to connect. I tried no user name/pass, user account name/pass, icloud-login/pass. The user account is set on the system to use my icloud username/pass. I am the admin on this system and the only user account.

This was a sudden change. Last week all was well. There hasn't been an OSX update to my knowledge in the past week. Im still on the same workgroup listed in. System preferences Network Advanced WINS All should be fine but isnt. Yes, i've tried the simple thing of restarting both systems.
Im able to get into the public folder after enabling guest access. So SMB is working. However I find it strange that in the SMB sharing menu there options to enable 'Windows File Sharing' is greyed out not active.
Im super annoyed that in twice in as many months I've had an issue where my user file became corrupt/disabled/broken and I had to go into recovery and create another user and edit the old user file name to gain access to my system. I've since logged in and out numerous times and have not altered my account or password in anyway since the first issue I had logging in on the system itself. Currently, I have it set to access with my icloud credentials, For example: User account = Bob icloud account name = icloud password= password I've attempted to login with a combination of the user account name and the icloud name with the same password as no other password has been set or associated with the user file and it gives me no access. Apparently using an icloud password also poses issues for some VPNs as well. A week after I got my new system I tried to use a separate password after initially using icloud and something happened with the change and it locked me out of my system completely with no way to recover. I had never seen anything like this happen.
I had to completely wipe and start over and using recovery to make an new account wasn't even an option. So I have much trepidation to change. Do you have any idea why that would have happened? SOLVED OSX will ONLY accept LAN network authentication level 2 responses only. Windows default for this value is not set.
To fix this go to on the Windows side: Control Panel Administrative Tools Local Security Policy Local Policies (on left panel) Security Options 'Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level' Set this to 'Send NTLMv2 responses only' I tried to fixed it by forcing SMB1 on the Mac but it did nothing. Still no fix to allow and Android system to connect the the LAN shares on a Mac despite having proper credentials.
